Apps, Apps and More Apps!!!

An incredible number of iPad apps have been developed for individuals with special needs.  The apps are able to help with anything from communication, to learning to use a switch, to increasing fine motor skills.  Based on feedback we have received from customers we have put together a list of five popular and fun apps for individuals on the Autism Spectrum and five Switch Accessible Apps.

Apps for Individuals on the Autism Spectrum:

1. Tap to Talk- Free, Communication

This free app is great for communication. Not only is in simple to navigate, but it gives the user a voice. Tap a picture and it speaks. There are many pictures to choose from.

2. Choiceworks- $6.99, Schedulers/Organizers
This app helps children with their daily routines, understand their feelings and improve on their waiting skills. It can be customized with many pre-loaded images, or you can upload your own.

3. Fireworks Arcade- Free, Sensory/Relaxation
This app will give you a great visual experience. The fireworks show is mesmerizing!

4. Zen Bound 2- $2.99, Sensory/Relaxation
This app will keep you occupied for hours! It is a puzzle game of wrapping rope around structures by tilting   and rotating your iPad. There are beautiful visuals and soothing sounds.

5. Kid in Story Book Maker- $6.99, Social Skills
This app is designed to teach social skills in a fun way! Your child is the star of the visual stories! The stories can be customized with your own images.


Switch Accessible Apps:

1. E-I-E-I-O - $5.99
E-I-E-I-O is an adapted book that teaches about animals and the sounds they make. There are 4 different   activities to help with beginning touch skills, beginning switch skills and early language development.

2. Magma – Free 
Magma is a great sensory app that looks like a lava lamp on your iPad. You can even combine it with   music from your iPad for a great auditory and visual experience.

3.  I Can Help - $3.99 
The I Can Help app uses Symbolstix Communication Symbols through stories to teach about helping in school and in a community. You also get to have more fun with the three leveled games you can play through the app.

4. Matching Cards Snap - $6.99
This app allows you to use your switch when cards match and you receive a rewards for the correct answer. 

5. Treasure Island - $2.99
This fun filled game is terrific for learning two switch scanning. You use your switches to find the hidden pirate treasure!
